About Amy

I am tertiary qualified in Social Science and have extra qualifications in counselling. Most of all, I am absolutely passionate about helping women.
.
It was because of an interest in the strength of women and the challenges they face, particularly as entrepreneurs, I founded  Space to Breathe.
 .
I want to spend my time talking with women who are working on their own, in their own inspiring businesses. It is my experienece that these women are smart, driven, capable and terribly, terribly hard on themselves. Some of the most gifted of them, have trouble believing their own worth, and tell stories of calling themselves ‘stupid’.
 .
I come from a family who builds their own small businesses. I’ve first hand witnessed the joy and struggle of having a female centred business while raising a family.
 .
I have noticed  an increased awareness of the importance of engaging in ‘self care’ coupled with a growing dissatisfaction with the commonly held understandings of what that means. The women I’ve spoken to have said they are disheartened with being told to simply have a bath or a massage or to ‘take time-out ‘ as the only way of releasing the frustration within. Many women do not have the option to simply stop what they are doing and take time out. “No” doesn’t always feel like an option.
 .
I love to talk about self care. But when I talk about it, I mean the way that we treat ourselves. How we talk to ourselves, feel ourselves, promote ourselves, and love ourselves.
 .
Let me help you still the battle within and make Space to Breathe….

I had an amazing session with our resident “Inner Critic Expert”, Ms Amy Madden last week – and seriously, I can’t believe how much my inner voices say, that I simply tune out. Now that I am paying attention to them, I can clearly see that I have a few peeps living inside my head. Amy asked me to name the most vocal, and I call her Bossy Betty – she’s a 1950’s pre-teen who just knows the right thing to do in EVERY situation.

I used to think that I needed to argue back with my inner chatter – but Amy is helping me to make friends with Bossy Betty – and then in our future sessions we are going to put her skills to work on something else… rather than criticising me. It’s been a super-powerful experience for me so far…~Tash
